What is CASAL and what actions do they take?

The CASAL is an intersectoral committee that regroups numerous partners from community, municipal, agricultural, school health and charitable organizations. The Committee was born in 2006, from an initiative of the Public Security of Laval. The mission is to favor and promote food security in Laval.

Since 2007, CASAL has promoted the regional initiatives:

  • Assure a food is accessible economically and geographically in disadvantaged neighborhoods and to vulnerable people in terms of variety food, and source of supply.
  • Support the development of projects related to urban agriculture and promoting the purchase of local products.
  • Promote and support the revaluation of skills and knowledge related to food.
  • Maintain an intersectoral work mandate in safety related to food.
